Are you feeling stressed and overwhelmed that your dog is destroying couches, pillows, chairs, etc? Maybe your dog is also getting into the trash. You may also have a dog that is chewing your cell phone, toilet paper, pillows, etc. You are not alone, and this is a common problem that many Salt Lake City dog owners experience. Apply some of the tips below to stop this bad behavior, and create more peace of mind in your home.
1.) Give your dog plenty of things to do. Buster Cubes, Kongs, bully sticks and other food oriented toys will give your dog occupied. Also change your dog’s toys daily. He will get bored if he sees the same toys out all of the time.
2.) Supervise your dog when you are home, and keep him within your sight.
3.) Proof your home. Put objects that your dog might chew on out of his reach and behind closed doors.
4.) When your are not at home keep your dog in a crate until he is ready to be free in the house.
Once your dog has stopped destroying your house, when you are at home, you can begin increasing your dog’s freedom when you are not at home through dog training. Salt Lake City has many resources that can help you with this. If needed we highly recommended choosing from a list of dog trainers. Salt Lake City has many reward-based options.
