A few weeks ago, I got into a huge fight with my parents. My shoulders and neck tighten in pain. I felt I was no longer safe in the arms of my family. Everything seemed unpredictable and I had no idea what was going to happen next.
Were we going to forgive each other or was more fighting going to continue? More pain grew in my chest. My chest ached with grief. All happy possibilities seem to end.
I took Iris to visit her dad in Utah. I stayed in Utah for two weeks near Salt Lake City. Dog Training of course is how I spent my time with my clients. I also decided to work on healing myself.
I set up an appointment with Jarrad Haslam at A New Direction, He does a special chiropractic technique that is nonforce. It is called DNFT. Little did I know I was in a for a life change.
I went into my appointment and Jarrad immediately began talking about focusing on what we want in life instead of what I don’t want. He asked me what I wanted to have more in my life. I said I wanted more safe, peace and collaboration with my family. I stated that when I strayed away from this, I felt tightness in my neck and shoulders.
He said he learned a new technique called Reorganizational Healing. This focused on what was right in my body instead of what was wrong. He mentioned that this is what Tony Robbins does and it creates endless possibilities. What a profound idea!
Many times when we go to a chiropractor, we are focusing on what is wrong. Chiropractors find where the spine is out of alignment and jerk it back into place. Many dog trainers do the same. They focus on what is wrong and punish dogs for bad behavior.
At Four Legged Scholars LLC Dog Training, Salt Lake City we do things differently and focus on what is right. We want you to feel more peace in your life with your dog.
What about a new and profound perspective? Instead, focus on what is in alignment within my body. Once Jarrad worked on my spine, he shifted to Reorganizational Healing.
He touched a part of my body, and he asked me if I could feel the relaxation in these muscles? At first it felt alien. I wasn’t used to focusing on the parts of my body that were relaxed and felt good. Then I decided to soak it in.
He transferred this feeling to other parts of my body, and I began to feel more open in my neck and shoulders. It was amazing! I felt so free.
The best part is the feeling in my neck and shoulders has stayed with me, and it has been weeks later. To top it off when I returned to Ohio everything was peaceful with my parents. I am focusing on what we have in common and what is working. We are at peace with each other and are having fun again!
So what does this have to do with dog training? Everything in your life is related. It is time to focus on what is “right” with your dog. Give your dog rewards for good obedient behavior. You won’t regret it, and it will change your perspective about your dog.
Perspective is everything. It affects your emotions and your actions. You will feel much more peace and happiness with your dog. As a result, your body will feel more at ease, and it will be easier for you to reward your dog for the behavior that you like. As a result, your dog will perform obedient behavior more often.
Focusing on what is wrong limits you. Punishing your dog for bad behavior creates stress for both your dog and yourself. You will both become stressed because you are constantly focusing on what is wrong. This doesn’t work well with dog training. Salt Lake City has many dog owners that I have worked with that have chosen to change their perspective.
It is time for you to have a new perspective too. A perspective that will create amazing shifts between you and your dog. You deserve a piece of mind. Start now!
Namaste!
